the black hole of the stock market

// 2003.04.15 22:10 //

after a fun day of brooding over taxes, i come home to my 401k statement and see that i lost as much money as i put in last quarter. arrr. hopefully the bounce the market has had recently improved my account’s bottom line… i do not usually check it online all that much. but i guess i am in this for the long term…
…but as someone famous whom i do not recall said (paraphrased) “in the long term you’ll be dead”
in hindsight, i should’ve been buying a house or something instead.
on the other hand, i am happy and grateful that i have a job that i enjoy and enough resources to live comfortably. one always needs perspective on The Greater Scheme of Things.
adsk also tanked today before i could dump my stock purchase plan shares. apparently some analyst firm gave a mixed report on our performance. or, it one subscribes to the random walk theory, maybe it dropped because that’s just the way it is.
